HARVEY, LA— Hines Furlong Line, Inc. brought the M/V Sun Valley into service as the second vessel in the company’s ongoing 11-boat construction program built around Mitsubishi propulsion supplied by Laborde Products. The series creates a unified fleet with consistent power, predictable maintenance, and strong day-to-day performance.
Built by Eymard Marine Construction & Repair Inc., the Sun Valley runs on two Mitsubishi S6R2 Tier 3 twin-screw engines rated at 803 horsepower at 1,400 RPM. Two Laborde-supplied 65kW generators provide dependable auxiliary power to support onboard systems, lighting, and vessel operations. Sized to match the Sun Valley’s operating profile, the generators give crews confidence that essential systems remain powered throughout long days on the river.
Hines Furlong emphasized that this program depends on steady communication and reliable support from every partner involved.
“This program works because everyone involved stays engaged,” said Karl Morley, Senior Engineer of New Construction & Leased Vessels at Hines Furlong. “Laborde shows up, they communicate, and they keep moving when the yard needs answers. That level of attention makes a difference when you are putting vessels into service at this pace.”
Laborde Products highlighted the teamwork behind the program and the effort that goes into keeping each vessel on schedule.
“We prepare the equipment, support the installation, and stay available through the whole process,” said Brian Laborde, President of Laborde Products. “The Sun Valley shows what can happen when the work stays organized and no one lets things slide.”
