Nichols Boat Company has completed construction of the M/V Jerry L. Jenkins, a new inland towboat built for Jantran, Inc. Named in honor of a Port Captain, Jerry L. Jenkins, the vessel recognizes his 43 years of dedicated service, leadership, and commitment to the company.
The 64' × 26' × 10' vessel is configured with a twin-screw propulsion system powered by two Mitsubishi S6R2-Y3 Tier 3 engines, each rated at 803 horsepower at 1,400 RPM. The propulsion package was selected to support the vessel's operating profile while providing a dependable platform for day-to-day operations on the inland waterways.
Named in recognition of Jerry Jenkins' decades of service, the vessel reflects Jantran's continued investment in dependable equipment and the people who help keep its operations moving. The M/V Jerry L. Jenkins will support the company's inland towing operations while carrying forward the legacy of one of its longtime leaders.
Laborde Products supplied the Mitsubishi propulsion package and worked alongside Nichols Boat Company and Jantran throughout the project. The S6R2 platform continues to be a trusted choice for inland towing applications, combining dependable performance with a proven track record across North America's inland waterways.
"The S6R2 continues to be a trusted platform for inland towing applications because it delivers the reliability and straightforward operation operators depend on," said Dan Walsh, Sales Representative at Laborde Products. "We're proud to have worked with Nichols Boat Company and Jantran to help bring another well-built vessel into service."
