Fairhaven, MA - October 2025 - Laborde Products distributor Windward Power has completed a repower of the M/V Debra C, upgrading from a CAT 3508 to a Mitsubishi S12R-Y3 rated at 1100 hp @ 1800 rpm. The project reinforces the role of Mitsubishi engines and Laborde’s dealer network in keeping Mid-Atlantic and East Coast operators on time with dependable power and local support.
The repower centered on more than just replacing horsepower. It was really about choosing an engine platform built for the Debra C’s long-haul Mid-Atlantic runs. With 1100 hp @ 1800 rpm, the Mitsubishi S12R-Y3 delivers steady torque, simpler mechanics, and a service cadence operators can trust. In coastal service where tidal swings, crowded harbors, and unpredictable weather grind on equipment, having an engine that’s both durable and straightforward to maintain is critical.
“On the Debra C, the S12R-Y3 gave us exactly what we needed. And that is dependable power and a clean install,” said Gary Eleniefsky, Vice President of Windward Power. “Since commissioning, uptime has been consistent, and our service plan keeps the vessel on schedule without surprises.”
“Reliability is everything out here,” said Captain James Martins of the M/V Debra C. “These Mitsubishi engines keep us moving without any headaches.”
That combination of local dealer expertise and manufacturer backing is central to Laborde’s approach along the Atlantic corridor. By investing in distributor partnerships, Laborde ensures operators get both the right engine and the support system to keep it turning.
“Windward Power is a perfect example of how our network is designed to work,” said Brian Laborde, President & CEO, Laborde Products. “They know their waters and their operators, and we make sure they have the parts, training, and pipeline to respond quickly. That’s what keeps vessels like the Debra C working.”
The Debra C repower shows off the growing presence of Mitsubishi engines on the East Coast, combining mechanical durability with the advantage of a local distributor who knows the region’s waters and schedules.
